About Our Chocolates

The Story Behind the Name

LaRue Fine Chocolate was named in honor of Dora LaRue Smith Logan, Elizabeth’s mother.

She hated her name, but Elizabeth always thought it sounded like it belonged painted on the side of a B-17 bomber.

Her mother served in the Army, raised four boys, and later had Elizabeth at the age of forty.

She was strong, kind, gentle, and full of love, and one hell of a Scrabble player.

She passed away on October 1, 1996, and is still greatly missed.
